A bit about my pedagogy:
My experiences in music and education cover a wide area. I have over 14 years of training, and in that time I have taught band, orchestra, choir, and elementary music, plus university level coachings and masterclasses. Teaching students of all ages, levels, and aspirations is my specialty.
As a committed music educator, I believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to learn. I develop lesson curricula around the needs and goals of individual students. Many of my students win seats iin All-State and honors bands as principal chairs, while placing high rankings in solo/ensemble festivals. My studio, online and in person, is dedicated to creating a warm, and nurturant learning environment; this is how I initially learned music as a young girl at my grandmother’s hobby farm in Michigan. I want to share this lifelong curiosity with all my students.
Tone (our voice as musicians) is first and foremost the focus of each student. From there I include ear training, sight reading, sight singing, improvisation, as well as collaborative experiences that will not only enhance musicianship, but confidence in each student.
Some PDF materials will be supplied, and depending on instrument and level I send a recommendation of which methods books to purchase.
All services can either be held in person or online. Please go to my contact page to schedule a music lesson, apply for tutoring services, or a masterclass for your school. Any inquiries can be sent directly to anniejchapman@gmail.com.
